With a warmth and genuine hospitality that is distinctively southern, Deborah’s journey of delivering advice and guidance spans decades, as well as generations. Her background and expertise in blending tax consulting, financial guidance, and lecturing at the university level has touched lives from retirees to students across our nation.
Deborah began her career with Deloitte in Dallas, Texas upon graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with her Master of Science in Taxation (MST) and earned her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1996. In 2007, Deborah became involved in Financial Planning for individuals and organizations and gained the prestigious Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Certification in 2008 with the mindset of helping clients successfully weather the turmoil of the Great Recession. An opportunity to best support her family involved a move to Colorado, and Deborah did what she always had which was to evaluate where she could make the most impact. In 2011, she became a University of Northern Colorado accounting lecturer, a position which she still proudly holds today. This allowed her the flexibility to raise her two beloved daughters.
With her youngest daughter entering college in 2020, Deborah reevaluated how best to utilize her experience and desire to serve. She began looking for a firm with a holistic approach and a strong reputation for always doing what’s right for clients. She realized that Impact Financial Strategies was a perfect fit for her tax background, values, and desire to make a difference. As a relationship manager, Deborah takes pride in creating and delivering quality, personalized service and customized plans to businesses and individuals. She helps them decipher the financial “noise” and set realistic expectations so they can confidently realize a strong, secure financial future. Additionally, Deborah is deeply familiar with the world of cognitive decline, skilled nursing facilities, and incapacitation. She personally understands the complexities, both emotionally and financially, of this expanding reality of elder care.
Deborah and her husband, David, are proud parents of Elizabeth and Catherine. Deborah enjoys volunteering at basketball games, presenting planning-for-college seminars to high school students, being a Coordinator in the Volunteers Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and serving on Finance Advisory Boards for community 501(c)(3) organizations.
